End of 2022 Plant Exchange Update

The Bear Dance Plant Exchange is a free plant swap stand located at 3205 Roanoke Street in Christiansburg. If you have neglected/unwanted plants or cuttings, bring them here so that they may find new homes! Share what you’ve donated/traded with your friends using the hashtag: #beardanceplantexchange.

** We are CURRENTLY IN HIBERNATION! The plant exchange shuts down for the fall and winter and resumes each spring. **

1. First order of business is an update on the Plant Exchange end of season fundraiser we held in the fall.

I sold a bunch of the plants and am currently holding onto about $50 that's set to go to the Women's Resource Center of the NRV. The reason I haven't sent it over yet is I still have a bunch of inventory I've been slllooowwwlllyy dispersing to customers and visitors at Bear Dance. I'm going to post an inventory of what's still available as soon as possible.

2. Second order of business is: WE ARE LOOKING FOR FEEDBACK!

While we are in hibernation I have been organizing my thoughts and setting goals. There's a form on the plant exchange page of our website where you can leave feedback anonymously. Anything and everything is welcome, from how we run it to what's listed as a resource on the plant exchange website page. You may submit feedback anonymously if you prefer using the form on our website: https://www.beardancemarket.com/plant-exchange

3. Finally, We are HIRING A PLANT STAND MANAGER to help us care for all the exchange items and engage with the community.

I recognize my limits to have the social energy to post consistently about the plant stand and keep the community engaged.

This will be an approximately 6-8 hour per month (breaks down to between 1-2 hours per week) independent contractor gig. This means we will pay you a set amount each month to fulfill certain plant stand duties once or twice a week. This role is good for anyone in the neighborhood who loves our store and loves plants and is willing to do some work to help pay for their Bear Dance grilled cheese addiction. (Or whatever you decide to spend the money on.)

If this sounds like your kind of thing, please email us at beardancemarket@gmail.com with an *informal* cover letter + resume — I'd like to know a little about you, that you communicate well, and that you have experience being professional, but I DON'T need a beautifully formatted cover letter + resume document — A quick summary as part of your email message is sufficient.

Thanks for reading. We're excited to continue this conversation with y'all.
